Billy Ruiz is an extraordinary man. For many years, I spent a week with him at the annual Rancheros Visitadores Trek in the central coast region of California. He is a gourmet chef of camp cuisine, handling everything from beef and lamb to Cajun dishes. But, he is also a first class blacksmith, teamster, philosopher and ordained minister. Some of my best moments have been spent sitting on a folding chair and talking with Billy.
